What is SCU webmail?
SCU webmail is a email account and it can use the email regularly as important information will be sent to this account. SCU email accounts are ready to be activated in mid-June once the metric and term are activated by the Registrar’s Office.
It’s also how you can access lots of other Microsoft products the University provides for your use. The email accounts can be activated for first year students to transfer students. The activation deadline is as early as possible from your respective date.
SCU webmail Sign in
You must have SCU Email Address and Password to login or sign in to SCU webmail, follow the steps below to login.
- To log in to your SCU webmail, You can go to sts.scu.edu.au weblink.
- Unless you are currently logged in to another SCU application, and you will be taken to the Login Portal.
- Enter your full SCU email address and password in the filed.
- Once you are logged in you will be taken to your SCU email in Microsoft Office 365.
- And finally click on the ‘Sign in‘ button.
How to Reset SCU webmail password?
If you have forgotten your SCU email password, this information guide provide you with instructions on how to securely reset by following a few simple steps.
Before reset password
Please be aware that this will reset your password for most University systems.
- To reset your SCU password, click on this link: Self-Service Password Reset portal.
- On the password reset screen enter your Student ID number, SCU Username or SCU email address.
- For security purposes, you will need to confirm that you are not a robot by ticking the I’m not a robot tick box.
- Click Send Verification Code.
- You will now be sent the verification code to your personal email account / and or mobile phone number on record.
- Once received, enter the verification code, along with your choice of new password, and once again confirming the new password.
- Be sure to pay attention to the password strength meter as you type your new password in order to ensure maximum security.
- When complete, click Submit.
- And if you receive an error message stating You do not have any registered personal contacts details then:
– If you are a student
– If you are a staff member - Finalist the password reset by clicking on the ‘Reset my password‘ button.
- You will receive a message confirming that the password has successfully been reset.
You will also receive an email to your personal email address (if you have registered one) notifying you that the password has been reset.
Setup SCU Email on iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch)
There are two methods one via the built-in mail app on your device or Outlook app.
- Download Outlook for iOS from the iOS App Store and then open it.
- If it’s your first time using Outlook for iOS, then enter your full email address.
- Tap Add Account.
- If not, open the Menu, tap Settings Outlook app settings, Add Account then click Add Email Account.
- Enter your SCU email address e.g. john10@student.scu.edu.au or john.maheta@scu.edu.au.
- Enter your SCU username or email address and password then click Sign In.
- Accept any prompts for permission you may receive.
- Swipe through the features and you’re now ready to use Outlook for iOS.
Built-In Mail App
- To set up your emails on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings on your device.
- Scroll down and select Mail.
- Click Add Account.
- Select Exchange as the type of account.
- Enter your Email address and Password in the field, the description will automatically default to your email address, however, you can change this to be more descriptive if you’d prefer.
- Then press Next.
– Staff: username@scu.edu.au e.g. john.maheta@scu.edu.au
– Students: first initial for first name + dot(.) + full surname + dot(.) + number@student.scu.edu.au e.g. j.maheta.10@student.scu.edu.au - Click on the Sign In button.
- Select Work or school account.
- Enter your SCU email address e.g. j.maheta.10@student.scu.edu.au or john.maheta@scu.edu.au.
- Tap Sign In button.
- Select Accept for Permissions requested.
- Select if you wish to also sync Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, and Notes that are linked with your SCU email account, then press Save.
- You should now be able to access your SCU emails from within the Mail application on your iOS device.
How to Setup SCU Email Account on Android device?
This guide provides three different methods for setting up your SCU emails account, when using an Android device.
- Install the Outlook for Android app from the Google Play Store and then open it.
- Tap Get Started if this is your first time.
- Otherwise, to add another email account, open the Menu and click More button Settings.
- Click Add Account > Add Email Account.
- Outlook may detect your Google accounts.
- Tap Skip.
- Select on Allow to confirm offline access and any other prompts.
- Click Continue.
- Enter your SCU email address e.g. j.maheta.10@student.scu.edu.au or john.maheta@scu.edu.au.
- Enter your email account password and tap Sign In or Next.
Built-In Mail App
The below screen shots have been taken from a Samsung Galaxy, other android devices should have similar styled screens.
Automatically add email account
- Open your standard email application on your device.
- Select Add new account.
- Enter your personal email information following:
– Email Address: enter your SCU email address
– Password: choose your SCU password - Click Sign In.
- Select the account > Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
- Agree to the security setting.
- Click Apply.
- Click Activate at the security features screen.
- Your email account is now setup.
Manually add email account
- Open your standard email application on your device.
- Select Add new account.
- Enter your personal email information following:
– Email Address: enter your SCU email address
– Password: choose your SCU password - Click Manual Setup.
- Select the account Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
- Select the exchange server settings:
– Email Address: enter your SCU email address
– Domain\Username: enter your SCU email address
– Exchange Server: outlook.office365.com - Click Sign In.
- Agree to the security setting.
- Click Apply.
- Click Activate at the security features screen.
- Your email account is now setup.
How to Create an Email Signature on SCU webmail?
To add your contact details and information at the bottom of your emails.
For Outlook
To create an email signature in Outlook desktop application, please see below this guide how to create and add signatures in Outlook.
- Create signature and select when Outlook will add a signature to your messages.
- Open a new email message.
- On the Message menu, select Signature Signatures.
- Depending on the size of your Outlook window and whether you’re preparing a new email message or reply, there may be a message menu and a signature button in two different locations.
- Tap Signature to edit, select New and in the New Signature dialog box, type the name for the signature.
- Under Edit signature, compose your signature.
- In the E-mail Account drop-down box, select an email account to join with a signature.
- You can have different signatures for each email account.
- Click on tOK to save your new signature and return to your message.
For Webmail
- Sign into your SCU email account.
- In the upper right hand corner click on the cog wheel, select View all Outlook settings.
- Select Compose and Reply under Heading and Email Signature.
- Write or enter your signature on the emails you send in the box.
- You can also add an image (such as the SCU logo) by using the image button on the left-hand side of the menu.
- Tick one or both of the buttons that automatically include your signature on emails.
- After you have finished creating your signature press ‘Save’.
- If you do not select the checkbox option you will have to manually place your signature on the emails you wish to sign.
- Once finished writing your email select the three dots then select Insert signature from the menu, as pictured.
How to Import emails into Outlook on SCU Email ?
This guide explains how to import a PST file into Outlook 2016 or Outlook 2013.
- First At the top of your Outlook 2016 or 2013 ribbon, choose File.
- Choose Open & Export > Import/Export, this starts the wizard.
- Select on the option Import from another program or file, and then click Next.
- Choose Outlook Data File (.pst) and click Next.
- Browse to the .pst file and you can want to import email.
- Under Options, choose how you want to deal with emails and contacts, then choose Next.
- If a password was assigned to the Outlook Data File (.pst), enter the password in the field.
- And then click OK.
- If you’re importing the contents of your .pst file into your Office 365 mailbox, choose ‘Import Items into the same folder in’ and select the field with your email address (eg. john.maheta@scu.edu.au).
- If you are NOT importing into your Office 365 mailbox, choose ‘Import items into the current folder’.
- This imports the data into the folder currently selected.
- Choose Finish.
- Outlook starts importing the contents of your .pst file immediately and it’s finished when the progress box goes away.
- If you are importing your .pst file into your Office 365 mailbox, you may see a message that it is trying to connect to Microsoft Office 365.
- This happens when the internet connection is interrupted, even for a moment.
- Once your Internet connection is re-established, Outlook will continue to import the .pst file.
This option will use Internet data, and it is not recommended to do this via a tethered phone or a 4G connection.
Add the University Calendar to a Mobile Device using Outlook (iOS and Android)
This guide will go through the process of adding the University shared calendar to your mobile device via the Outlook App.
- If you haven’t already, install the Outlook app via the App Store.
- You will need to add your student email account in the settings.
- Once installed, open the Outlook application.
- Select the calendar by clicking the calendar icon at the bottom right of the window.
- In the calendar, click on your icon in the upper left corner (in this case the icon is the sun).
- This will bring up a list of recent lenders you currently display.
- To add a new calendar, click on the icon with the ‘+’ at the top left hand side of the window.
- Click on the Add Shared Calendars.
- In the text field, type in ‘University’ and add the University calendar by clicking the ‘+’ icon.
- You have now added the University shared calendar.
- Note the color of the calander in this window, you can change this color by clicking on the setting gear icon and choosing another colour) as events will be displayed with this colour in the calendar view.
- All important University events will be added into the calendar.
Add the University Calendar to Outlook Web App
This guide will provide instructions on how to add the shared calendar – ‘University Calendar’ into your Outlook Web App (OWA).
- Log in to your email account via the SCU homepage by hovering over ‘Current Students’ and clicking ‘Email’.
- Once logged into your account, open your calendar by clicking the calendar icon at the bottom left hand side of the window.
- Click on the ‘Import Calendar’, this will open another window and from there select ‘From Directory’.
- Enter ‘University Calendar’ in the field that says ‘Enter name or email address’ and click ‘Add’.
- In the left hand column of the calendar page you will see that the ‘University Calendar’ has been added.
- You will now be able to view important University dates in this calendar.
How to Export Calendar from Outlook to Excel for SCU Email?
Exporting a SCU email calendar to Excel can be beneficial for reporting purposes. It will be most beneficial for the calendars used for booking services.
Personal Calendar Export
- Open Microsoft Outlook on your device.
- Go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export option.
- Select Action to do, select Export to File.
- Then click Next to continue button.
- Select Comma Separated Values, and then click Next.
- Select which Calendar you wish to export, and then click on the Next button.
- Keep in mind that this method of exporting will only work for individual credit Calenders.
- You will then need to select the file location where the calendar will be exported too.
- If you want to change the default file location, select Browse and click Continue.
- Leave this check box checked and click Finish to continue.
- You will then need to specify the inside to specify the export date and click OK.
- The selected calendar will then be exported to the file destination you set in Above.
Other Calendars Export
You can use this method to export calendars; Shared calendars, room calendars or other calendars.
- Open your Calendars from the navigation panel.
- Select the calendar you want to export.
- Change the calendar view.
- View > Change View > List.
- If you receive an error message such as, ‘Outlook cannot display this view’ you do not have the required access to the calendar.
- If you believe you need this type of access, please email servicedesk@scu.edu.au requesting access.
- Select all calendar items or multiple ones you would like to export.
- Holding the Ctrl key, you can select multiple nonadjacent items with clicking each item one by one; holding the Shift key, you can select multiple adjacent items with clicking the first one and the last one.
- Right click the selected items, and select the Copy from the right clicking menu.
- Create a new Excel workbook, right click in a blank cell and Paste the copied calendar selections.

What is SCU ?
SCU (Southern Cross University) is an Australian public university with campuses at Lismore and Coffs Harbour in northern New South Wales and at the southern end of the Gold Coast in Queensland. The initial predecessor institution to Southern Cross University was the Lismore Teachers’ College, which commenced operation on 23 February 1970, at what is now the Northern Rivers Conservatorium site.
