What is Hostgator Webmail ?
Hostgator webmail is a service that provides web-based email accounts. These are usually free email accounts that are managed from a website. Examples include Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo Mail, Microsoft Outlook and other services.
Webmail allows users to have long access to their emails, send messages as long as they have internet connection and web browser access. This also means that the user will not be able to read any old email or email draft will not be able to draft a new email.

Create Hostgator Email Accounts in Plesk
The following steps will allow you to create new email accounts in Plesk:
- First, log in to Plesk.
- If under Hosting Services using your admin login, select Domains and manage the Customer Panel or click the Control Panel link.
- Select the Mail option in the menu on the left (websites & domain, mails, applications, files, database, statistics, users, account, wordpress etc).
- Click your “Create Email Address” button.
- Create a Windows Plesk email address button.

- (Optional) Create a description for the email that will be visible to everyone who has access to that email account.
- Click the OK button to finish.
Log in to Hostgator Webmail (cPanel & direct links)
Webmail is one of the best and simplest features offered by cPanel. You need your cPanel account. Will provide complete information on how to create email accounts in and then log in to your Hostgator hosted webmail once those accounts are created.
There are two ways you can log in to Hostgator webmail:
(Administrator only) Access webmail via cPanel
There are several ways to read your email. Normally, users will go to yourdomainname.com/webmail and login. Here is a stepguide on how to login to webmail:
To access your email accounts through your cPanel, please follow the instructions below.
- Log into cPanel.
- Click on the Email Accounts icon (not the Webmail icon!).
- Find the email account you wish to access in the list of email accounts.
- Locate the email account you want to access and click More.
- Then, click on Access Webmail.
- A new page asking for your password will appear.
- Enter the correct password. (If you need to force your way in, you can reset the email password with the Change Password link on the previous page.)
- Select your preferred webmail application.

- If your domain has propagated, you can access webmail by typing any of the following URLs into your browser’s address bar.

How to Change the Password of An E-mail Account?
You can make changes to your email account through cPanel or webmail. The instructions below will guide you through changing your email password with either method.
Changing Email Password through Webmail
The email account owner can use this method to change the existing password for an email account. It requires the owner to know the old password before a new one can be set.
- Log into epanel webmail page.
- Navigate to the top toolbar and click on the email address to populate a menu drop down.
- Click Password & Security.
- In the Password field, type the new password for the email address.
- In the Password (Again) field, type the new password again.
- Click Change Password.
- You should receive a confirmation page showing that your password was successfully modified.
Changing Email Password through cPanel
If the email account owner has lost or forgotten the password, the password can be changed through cPanel. This method does not require the old password.
- Log into cPanel page.
- In the Mail section, click the Email Accounts icon.
- To the right of the appropriate email account, click Change Password.
- This will open the Change Mail Account Settings menu.
- In the Password field, type the new password.
- In the Password (Again) field, type the new password again.
– Note: The Strength Meter will indicate the difficulty of the password you select. They highly recommend that you use a strong password - Click Change Password to set the new password.
- You should receive a confirmation message showing that your password was successfully changed.
Forgot and Reset Hostgator webmail password
Below you will find information on how to change passwords for various accounts related to your HostGator web hosting plan. Some password changes may require HostGator support; however, some passwords can be changed in just a few quick steps.
Via cPanel
- Log in to your Customer Portal.
- Locate the hosting package you wish to edit and click Manage under the domain name.
- Select the Settings tab on top of the page.
- Click Reset Password.
- Here you can choose to create a password, or you can click on the Generate a New Password tab to have one generated for you.
- Enter and confirm a new password, or generate a new password, and then click Change Password.
- A confirmation message “SUCCESS” will be displayed at the top of the page informing you of the update.
- You can now log in to the cPanel using your new password.
Customer Portal
The login is your contact email address and the original password you signed up with. If that password is not working, please do the following to reset the billing password:
- Go to portal.hostgator.com webpage.
- Click the Forgot Your Password link.
- Provide the email address associated with your billing account.

Roundcube
The free webmail client RoundCube allows you to set up a signature for outgoing messages. You may create or change a signature in the RoundCube WebMail using the steps below:

- Double click on the email address that you want to create a signature for.

With your Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) Business Pro subscription, you can download and install your applications to your desktop. This guide will help you migrate your HostGator email to your Microsoft 365 account in the desktop version of Outlook.
To follow this guide, you must first install the desktop version of Outlook. If you haven’t installed it yet, you’ll need to install it.

Step 1: Gather Your Email Client Settings
- Log into the HostGator Customer Portal by navigating to webpage.
- Click on the Email Accounts option above the Launch cPanel button.
- This will open the Email Accounts section of your cPanel.
- Scroll down to the list of email accounts and click on Set Up Mail Client.
- Scroll down to the Manual Settings section and note the information in the Secure SSL/TLS Settings (Recommended) box.
- You will need this information to migrate your email.
Step 2: Import Your HostGator Email To Outlook
- Open Outlook on your computer or other devices.
- On the upper left-hand panel, click on FILE.
- In the main window, click on the +Add Account button.
- On the Account Setup page, enter your HostGator hosted email address and click the Connect button.
- You have to select an account type on the next screen.
- Choose IMAP settings.
- Now you will need the information we gathered earlier.
- Use the data from the Secure SSL/TLS Settings (Recommended) box to fill in the account settings.
- Once you’re done inputting your connection settings, click the Next button.
- Enter your password on the last screen and click Done button.
Outlook will now sync with your HostGator hosted email account. The email in your webmail account will now appear in Outlook your Microsoft 365 mailbox.
Step 3: Save Your Emails to the Desktop
The next part is exporting your emails to an Outlook Data File (.pst). If you receive more emails after taking this snapshot, you will have to repeat these steps to migrate the new messages.
- In the Outlook desktop app, choose File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
- Choose the option to Export to a file.
- Then click Next button.
- Choose Outlook Data File (.pst), and then hit Next.
- Choose the account you want to export by clicking on the name or email account you added to Outlook in the previous steps.
- Ensure the Include sub-folders box is checked before clicking Next button.
- Choose Browse to select where to save the .pst file and to enter a filename.
- By default, the name is backup.pst, but you can choose another name that’s easy to remember.
- If you are exporting to an existing .pst from a previous export, you will need to select what to do when exporting items that already exist in the file in the Options box.
- Then click Finish to continue.
– The next box presents you with the option to password protect the file; however, you can click OK to save the data file.
– Outlook will immediately begin to export the data. Please note that Outlook will not give you a message when it’s done. - Confirm that the file is saved to the location you chose.
Step 4: Remove the HostGator Account From Outlook
Before you can connect your Microsoft 365 account, you will have to remove your HostGator hosted email account first.
- Choose File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
- In the Account Settings box, select your email account and then click Remove.
- A dialog box will display warning you about the offline cache being deleted.
- Choose “Yes” option.
- The email messages that you imported to your Microsoft 365 mailbox will still be there, but your %%RBAND%% email account will no longer appear in Outlook.
Step 5: Import Your Email to Your Microsoft 365 Mailbox
Now you can connect your Microsoft 365 account to Outlook. To do this, you follow the same steps from Step 2, but instead of choosing an IMAP connection, choose Microsoft 365.
- To start the Import and Export Wizard, click File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
- Choose Import from another program or file from the listed options and then click Next.
- Select Outlook Data File (.pst).
- Then click Next to continue.
- Browse to the .pst file.
- In the Options box, select how you want to deal with duplicates and click Next.
- If you assigned a password to the .pst file, enter the password and then click OK.
- Choose the option to Import items into the same folder in: and make sure your Microsoft 365 mailbox is selected in the drop-down below it.
- Choose Finish option.
Outlook will immediately start copying the information from the .pst file to your Microsoft 365 mailbox.
When Outlook is finished, you will see the emails from your HostGator hosted email in your Microsoft 365 mailbox.
