How to Setup Aston Staff Email on Android devices ?
- Select the Email option from your Apps menu.
- And this app may be named Mail on some versions of Android.
- Enter your complete information in:
– Email address: enter your full email address, such as username@aston.ac.uk.
– Password: enter your password. - And then select Next button.
- Select your exchange account option.
- On some versions of Android this option may be called Exchange ActiveSync.
- Enter the following account information and select the Next option.

– Email Verification: frequency default value is Automatic (push). When you select this option, your phone will receive email messages that they are coming.
– Synchronize amount: this is the amount of mail you want to keep on your mobile phone. You choose from many length options, including one day, three days and one week.
– Notify me when an email arrives: if you select this option, your mobile phone will notify you when you receive a new email message.
– Sync contacts from this account: if you select this option, your contacts will be synchronized between your phone and your account. - Select the next option.
- And then type the name for this account and the name you want to display when you send e-mail to others.
- Select Complete to complete email setup and start using your account.
How to Setup Aston Email on Apple iOS Devices ?
To Organize staff email on devices like iOS you need to Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch push-email and synchronising e-mail, calendar and contacts and support Microsoft Exchange.
The University supports the use of the iPhone through O2 and the University Agreement on Vodafone. See the guide below to set up email for iPhone or any other mobile device.
- If this is the first email account created on your iPhone, tap Mail option.
- If you haven’t created an account, click Settings> Mail> Accounts> Add Account option.
- Tap Exchange option.
- Type your email (username@aston.ac.uk) and enter the description.
- And click ‘Next’ button in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- Now enter your password and tap Next button.
- It will now try to verify your email server settings. If it is able to find the appropriate settings.
- If your iPhone can’t find your settings, you’ll be asked to enter a few more details:
– Server: mail.aston.ac.uk
– Domain: campus
– Username: enter your university username
– Password: enter your university password - Select the type of information you want to sync with your device, and then click the ‘Save’ option.
- If you are asked to create a passcode, tap Continue and type a numeric passcode.
- A passcode is required to use your email on your iPhone.
Your Exchange data will now be synchronized with your device. By default last week’s e-mail will sync with your device, you can do this if you want to change this.
Set Mail Days on Sync
- Go to Settings> Mail> Accounts> Exchange Account Options.
- Tap Mail days to sync.
- Choose how much e-mail you want to sync with your device.
- When you add it to the device, the exchange account will be the same as the one you entered as the account description.
Email/Exchange – Connecting Outlook 2007 or 2010
You can connect to Outlook 2007 or your mailbox using its native Exchange connectivity. This means it will sync your email, calendar, contacts and tasks to your mailbox and allow you to use offline flights when your computer doesn’t have an internet connection.
Before making any changes to your computer, make sure you back up all data. The following instructions are provided by IT services for you to use at your own risk. Computers provided by IT services are pre-configured for Exchange for Access.
- To configure Outlook 2007 or connect to your mailbox, you can get started by adding a new mail account.
– Enter your name: enter username @ aston.ac.uk format.
– Email address: enter username @ aston.ac.uk in format.
– Password: enter your normal university password. - After you press the Next button, the account is automated. Setup will begin.
- You will need to re-enter your username and password as part of auto-setup.
- And see that you enter your username in the CAMPUS \ username format, along with your normal password.
- After successful completion of auto setup, you will see confirmation that your email account is configured to use the Microsoft Exchange.
- Press the Finish button to continue.
- You will not see any mail, as Outlook sets the local set of your mailbox.
- You should start viewing your mailbox in Outlook 2007 or 2010 soon.
- Once you can see your mail, calendar and contacts setup should be complete.
- Depending on the size of your mailbox, Outlook may take just a few minutes to download a full copy of your mailbox.
Staff Email – Windows Phone / Windows Mobile
- First go to Start, left-click on the app list, and tap Settings.
- Then click Email + Accounts option.
- Select the Add an Account> Add Exchange option.
- Tap the Email Address button.
- Then type your email address, username@aston.ac.uk.
- Tap the Password button, then type your password.
- And click Sign In button.
- If the phone receives your account settings, your email, calendar and contacts will be synchronized to your phone.
- Proceed to the next step follow.
- Scroll down to the Outlook screen, then click Sign In and fill in the field:
– Email address: check that your email address appears correctly.
– Password: tap Show password, then check if the password is correct.
– Username: verify that the username is correct.
